Amazing ancient monuments to visit in Anglesey

Anglesey has been settled for millennia with much evidence of the various peoples over time. Taking in some of the oldest of these ancient Anglesey monuments makes for a pleasant and reflective few hours with the benefit of seeing much of the beautiful Anglesey countryside.

Mein Hirion, Llanfechell

A set of three standing stones known as the Llanfechell Triangle, has great views of the North West of Anglesey views of a wide area of northwest Anglesey. The stones are each about 2m high and appear to be aligned so all three have their long axis oriented from northwest to southeast.

Tŷ Newydd Burial Chamber

The size and shape of the Tŷ Newydd Burial Chamber suggests that the four metre layout of the chamber was likely created in the Neolithic (New Stone Age) by a community of agricultural farmers.

Although quite small it's stark shapes and evident weight of the stones shows how much thought and energy went into such as burial chamber using what we believe to be simple technology.

It's an ideal part of a route of ancient monuments on the Isle of Anglesey as a pleasant and informative day out.
